The player will readily make adjus tment s ot this contr ol to suit the acous tics and circum stanc es. It should be set at maximum for use in large halls and set to minimum when playing in a small room. This switch is marked with the word «V olume». It's common to grab a meter and begin to quickly measure the voltage between two pins. Within that split second you will have connected VCC to GND through your meter and the 200mA fuse will blow = not good. Instead you'll see '0.000' indicating that there is no current between VCC and GND. If you have left your meter in 'current' mode, you won't see the voltage on the display. Therefore the swell pedal operated with the right foot permits you to change the volume and give the necessary «light and shade» to your playing in the same way that a singer can vary volume, or an orchestra change the amount of sound it produces. Unlik e the piano, you cannot obtain volum e from an organ manual (or keyboard). In order that the motor is not used unnecessarily, avoid use of the swell pedal when not actually playing, remember to bring the swell pedal to min imum or soft position at the end of each perform ance. By depressing the swell pedal you will increase the volume, gradual operation of this pedal will enable the player to command a wide range of expression and attack.
